Meet Jake…
Jake is the undisputed Top Rooster at 1917 Farm. His current assignment, which he performs quite well, is the safety and security of the pasture flock behind the Market. He looks after his girls. Yes, he is a little aggressive towards humans, but he is just doing his job. Please respect his territory and he will not bother you.
Just for fun, here is a typical day for Jake, on 1917 Farm. Well, sort of…
Once upon a time on quaint little 1917 Farm, there lived a proud rooster named Jake. Every morning, as the first rays of the sun peeked over the horizon, Jake would announce the start of a new day with a loud, triumphant crow. His call echoed across the fields, waking up the entire farm.
Jake took his responsibilities very seriously. After his morning crow, he would hop down from his perch and begin his rounds. First, he counted all the hens to make sure everyone was present. “One, two, three… all thirty-one are here,” he clucked with satisfaction. Next, he checked their feed and water, ensuring everything was in order for his beloved hens.
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the hens each laid an egg in the cozy nest boxes. Jake watched over them, proud of their daily contributions. Around noon, he led his flock out of the coop and into the lush pasture. The hens eagerly followed, ready to forage for bugs, grass, and other tasty treats.
Jake was always vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on his hens. If he spotted any potential danger, like a coyote, a hawk, or even the neighbor’s curious dogs, he would let out a sharp crow to warn his flock. The hens trusted Randy completely and knew to stay close when he signaled.
As the day drew to a close and the sky turned shades of pink and orange, Jake crowed once more, signaling that it was time to return to the safety of the coop. One by one, he clucked each hen in by name, making sure all were safely inside for the night. “Goodnight, Henrietta. Sleep well, Daisy,” he murmured as he counted them again.
With his flock secure, Jake settled down for the night, content and proud of another day well spent. And so, the farm rested peacefully, knowing that Jake the rooster was always there to watch over them.
